“One of the things I love most about neuro physio is how much time I get to spend with my clients. This allows me to play a larger role in their rehabilitation journey and to become invested in their progress.”

Kelly D’Autremont, MSc, BKin

Registered Physiotherapist & Clinic Director

Assistant Clinical Professor (Adjunct), McMaster University

Master of Science (Physiotherapy) – Glasgow Caledonian University

Bachelor of Kinesiology – University of Regina

After having grown up with a sibling with a spinal cord injury, supporting individuals who live with neurological conditions has been a lifelong passion of mine. This led me to work as a spinal cord rehabilitation trainer in Regina, Saskatchewan, where I led activity-based exercise programs for individuals with spinal cord injuries before pursuing a Master of Science in Physiotherapy (2017).

I completed several placements in the UK while completing my physiotherapy degree in Glasgow, Scotland. Most notably, I worked at The Wellington Hospital Rehabilitation Centre where I had the opportunity to utilize hydrotherapy, body weight support treadmills, exoskeletons, and exercise for neurological physiotherapy.

During my career as a neuro physiotherapist, I completed advanced courses in the Bobath Concept. This has provided me with a framework and guides my assessment and treatment of individuals with spinal cord injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological conditions. I have also completed courses in functional neurological stimulation in neuro rehab and the role of physiotherapy in functional movement disorders.

Another part of neuro physio that I enjoy is making it fun and incorporating activities that my clients love into their physiotherapy sessions.

When I am not at the clinic, you can find me spending time with my family, playing volleyball, or planning my next tattoo.
