Melanie Flitt

Melanie Flitt graduated from Bath School of Physiotherapy in the UK in 1988. She consolidated her skills through a postgraduate rotational position at a large teaching hospital before deciding to specialize in neurological rehabilitation in 1990. She has had extensive experience working in a variety of clinical settings including acute care and rehabilitation and has chosen to work in the community for the past 28 years in private practice. In 2009 Melanie founded Concept Physio (then Flitt and Associates) and began a small clinic based practice which has now evolved into a premier facility for neurological physiotherapy with clinics in Oakville and Burlington.

Melanie has completed numerous post graduate courses and has advanced level training in the Bobath Concept. She continues to improve her skills and seeks out further learning opportunities by attending courses and spending time with clinical mentors. She has worked as a member of large multidisciplinary teams helping clients who have experienced complex trauma including acquired brain injury and spinal cord injury and has formed networks with other health care providers across the continuum of care. In addition, she has developed extensive lists of resources to assist her clients with re-integrating into the community.

Melanie has delivered in-services to hospital and community based programs on the role of physiotherapy, safe handling and lifting, and approaches to neurological physiotherapy. She has also volunteered her time to various sports teams and takes part in local community events. On a personal note, she is a keen pickleball player, gardener and enjoys exploring Ontario’s wilderness.
